Welcome to the greatest class on earth!!
We are very busy in Room #204. In August, we made new friends and learned new rules here at Carrie Downie. In September at K-Reads night we received a bag with books, flash cards & a puzzle to help us learn the alphabet letters and sounds. We have started our (Science) Tree Kit and sit outside by “Leafy” our tree, during snack time.
At our Assembly we saw a Magician, and learned that “A Bully Free School” is the best kind of school. We have been trying our best to work on this in school.
We are moving right along into October. For the letter “Pp” we had Pajama Day!!!!!!! We wore our pajamas to school and some children even had silly slippers too!
Our first marking period is over and report cards have been sent home. The weather is getting chilly – we collected fall items for our “Signs of Fall” display in the hallway - it looks so nice. The YMCA came to us for a visit and we learned how to be Smart Problem Solvers using our “I feel ______ because _______” and we practiced with puppets.
We continue to work hard every day and follow Carrie Downie Rules.
Welcome to the Greatest Class on Earth!!
HELLO! My name is Ms.Sobolesky. I am excited to start a fabulous year with you and your child as my partners. There will be so much fun, learning, excitement and challenges going on in room #32 that you will enjoy EVERY minute of your kindergarten experience.
To start the year off on the pathway for success please remember a few tips: ALWAYS read all papers, notes and notices that are sent home in your child’s book bag. See that your child has plenty of sleep EACH night before coming to school. Please sign AND return all required forms to school ASAP. And most importantly READ, READ, READ to and with your child daily!
Thank you
Well it is almost the end of our kindergarten year… and what a wonderful year it has been. Please send your child to school well rested and ready to complete the end-of-year assessments for evaluation. Reminder: No flip flops, backless sandals or tank tops.
Please read all important information sent home about school activites and closings.
It will be very hard to send the students off to first grade but I am so proud of all their accomplishments. Continue to read to your child and take them to the library often.
Enjoy your summer & be safe!

Happy 2008!
We are moving right along now into the 3rd marking period. The children are growing academically and physically right in front of my eyes. As we continue to learn and review letters, sounds, numbers, counting and so much more…please continue to support your child’s endeavors, successes and encourage them to be the best and brightest stars they can be!
Many of the students are reading books to the class and writing words, sentences and even stories now and the others are following right after them.
“Fall”ing into place in Kindergarten!!!!!
At this time we are continuing to work on following rules, routines and the kindergarten curricukum. Remember Parents…discipline should not be a large part of the school day so please remind your child daily about following directions, talking only at appropriate times and keeping hands to themselves. Thank you.
Assessment for the upcoming report card is underway. Please continue to review and introduce all letters of the alphabet, numbers 0-20, rhyming. printing their first and last name the HWT way, counting and answering questions in a full sentence.
In our Science area some children shared leaves from home to observe under the microscope, Astro’s Surprise Bag is a big success with many objects daily and I want to thank many parents for keeping up with their child’s homework and returning it promptly with thier name writtten on it.
More fun things to come…enjoy this Fall? season.
